A total of 707 building plans, with an estimated combined value of over R637.2 million, have been approved by Kouga Municipality since January 2022 to June 2022 – stimulating economic growth in the region. This is an increase of 17.3%, compared to the same period in 2021.

For January, a total of 77 building plans were approved, while 208 and 141 plans were approved for February and March respectively. April saw 82 plans approved, while 132 plans were approved in May.

For June, 67 plans were approved. This includes new residential applications – including a block of flats valued at almost R10 million – as well as a significant industrial and warehouse application to the value of R11.5 million.

“The increase in building plans received and approved signifies a welcome growth in the municipality, as well as a surge in investment across the region,” said Kouga Executive Mayor, Horatio Hendricks.
