JEFFREYS BAY – The Aston Bay community is delighted to share the successful revamp of the cricket net at the local community tennis courts and park — a project made possible through the generous support of Build It Jeffreys Bay and Stulting Primary School in Humansdorp.
After years of wear and tear, the cricket net has received much-needed attention, and its transformation is already being enjoyed by local youngsters and aspiring cricketers.
Aston Bay’s Eugene Duvenage, who initiated the revamp, said that the project marks an important step in revitalising the area’s recreational spaces and encouraging outdoor activity.
“A heartfelt thank you goes to Build It, whose donation of materials and support made the refurbishment possible. Their continued commitment to uplifting local communities has made a visible difference to the park,” said Duvenage.
“Special thanks also to Stulting Primary for sponsoring key materials needed to complete the project. Their contribution demonstrates the school’s strong community spirit and belief in the value of sport for youth development.”
While the structure of the net is now in great condition, Duvenage said that it’s worth noting that the cricket mat itself still requires attention.
“Community members or businesses who would like to assist in completing this final phase of the project are warmly invited to get involved,” said Duvenage.
“With continued collaboration and support, the park is well on its way to becoming a vibrant hub for local sport once again.”
