HUMANSDORP – The Assisi SPCA in Humansdorp is encouraging community members to dedicate their 67 minutes this Mandela Day to improving the lives of animals in its care.

Inspired by the late Nelson Mandela’s words, “It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it,” the organisation is inviting volunteers to spend time at the shelter on 18 July.

According to the SPCA, residents can choose from a range of activities, including walking dogs, spending time with the shelter’s donkeys, rabbits and cats, cleaning kennels, assisting with maintenance, painting and gardening, or donating food, blankets, treats or funds to support the care of animals in need.

The SPCA is also encouraging volunteers to bring along friends and family members to help make a difference.

“Every single minute matters and every act of kindness counts. Let’s come together to give our furry friends a better tomorrow,” the organisation said.
