JEFFREYS Bay is buzzing with Winterfest fever as the usually quiet town gears itself for one of the biggest winter festivals in the country – the JBay Winterfest
Accommodation along the beachfront is near impossible to find, restaurants and shops are a beehive of activity, and sport enthusiasts are heading to town.
The popular JBay Winterfest, set to take place from July 2 to July 17, has an amazing line-up of events, which include the Championship Tour surfing, trail running, swimming in icy water, a mountain bike event and more.
The Corona Open JBayis for the elite Championship Tour of surfing, the best competitive surfers in the world, and it takes place at Supertubes.
Defending champion Filipe Toledo from Brazil will be present along with South African surfers Jordy Smith and Mikey February.
Now in its sixth edition, the JBay Windfarm MTB Classicwill once again offer something for all mountain bike skill and fitness levels, featuring a 25km fun ride, 50km marathon and 85km ultra.
The event will showcase the finest trail riding the Eastern Cape has to offer.
Riders taking part in all three routes will be racing through the Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm.
TheEndurade JBay X Trail Run has grown in leaps and bounds and 2018 looks to be the breakthrough year for this race.
The run is unique in concept, entailing three individual 20km trail runs, all starting 12-hours apart, showcasing the best of the Jeffreys Bay area.
The total distance covered will be just over 60km.
A 10km and 5km fun trail run will also be presented.
Both these events will be suitable for families, friends, supporters and first- time trail runners.
