Seekoei plan passes first test
THE new Seekoei Estuary Management Plan was put to the test in September when the Paradise Beach causeway flooded after heavy rains.
Thanks to the new management plan for the estuary, the municipality was able to secure permission from the Department of Environmental Affairs to breach the mouth in less than 24 hours.
The mouth was breached on the Monday and by the Thursday the water level had decreased sufficiently for vehicles to cross the causeway again.

Die laagwaterbrug tussen Paradysstrand en Astonbaai was onder water na die swaar reëns aan die begin van September.
Danksy die bestuursplan, het die munisipaliteit binne minder as 24 uur toestemming van die Department Omgewingsake ontvang om die mond oop te maak.
Die mond is die Maandag oopgemaak en die watervlak was teen die Donderdag laag genoeg vir voertuie om die laagwaterbrug oor te steek.
