According to Siyamthanda Jabavu, the co-founder of the King Me and Queen Me, the mentoring club was established in 2015, with a focus on youth programmes in the Kouga region, in a bid to develop the next generation.
“The programmes we offer are tailored to produce quality leaders, who are ethical and selfless,” said Jabavu.
The organisation, which is funded by the National Lottery Commission, assists learners at various schools by providing them with peer life skills programmes, self-development, and career guidance.
In addition, they provide job readiness training and skills development to the unemployed.
They also develop and expose local artists.
As part of their programme, last year the organisation hosted the Kouga’s Got Talent auditions at various locations throughout Kouga, during November.
In March this year, at least 14 of the finalists from the auditions received the necessary business training, which they could use in the entertainment industry.
“During the training, these artists worked closely with our organisation to gain knowledge, skills and exposure,” said Jabavu.
Furthermore, he said, soon the organisation plans to host various tours with the 14 artists to showcase their talents throughout the Kouga region.
“We are hoping to bring hope and revive the dreams of those who have a desire to be great artists one day. It is through these initiatives that those great celebrities are discovered,” said Jabavu.
