Detectives in Humansdorp seek community assistance in tracing Nkosoxolo Katikati’s (23) next of kin. Katikati died in a fire during the early hours of Saturday, May 6, in Kwanomzamo.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that at about 03:30 on May 6, neighbours woke up to the smell of smoke.
When the neighbours went to investigate, they found the house near the golf course in Kwanomzamo already gutted.
“The body of a man was found inside the burnt house,” said Naidu.
She said that the deceased is not from the area, but from Butterworth, and the address of the next of kin is unknown.
An inquest docket has been opened for further investigation.
Police are urgently trying to trace the family and appeal to anyone who can assist to contact SAPS Humansdorp, DWO Corne Smit, on 082 441 7613, or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
