Mzoxolo Mbombiya (39) from Wittekleibosch Community, located in Tsitsikamma within the Koukamma Municipality, received a bursary from the Tsitsikamma Wind Farm Trust, which enabled him to fulfill his dream of becoming a wind turbine technician.

Sindiswa Speelman, Community Development Manager, said that Mbombiya enrolled at SP Wind in 2021, an internationally-recognised training centre for wind industry technicians.

After obtaining his qualification she said that he started his work experience with several companies, including etaWIND, where they serviced Vestas wind turbines in Tsitsikamma Community Wind Farm, and Oyster Bay Wind Farm.

Speelman said that in 2022 Mbombiya accepted a job offer from Marcello, an Egyptian company whose core business is to build wind turbines.

She said that he joined Marcello in November 2022, and to date they have built a total of 70 wind turbines.

“The Tsitsikamma Wind Farm Trust is delighted to have been part of Mzoxolo’s journey to success. We wish him all the best in his endeavour to become an exceptional wind turbine technician,” said Speelman.
