After an impressive 47-year career in the field of education, Joyceleen Goeda, affectionately known as Juffrou Lien, has decided to retire from her position at Pellsrus Primary School.
Juffrou Lien’s connection with Pellsrus runs deep, as she was not only born and raised in this community, but also attended this very school as a student.
It is quite fitting that she concludes her remarkable journey by retiring from the same institution where she began her teaching profession.
On the day when this building was inaugurated as the new home of Pellsrus Primary School, Juffrou Lien was among the first group of students to occupy the premises. She holds the distinction of being the first individual from this community to qualify as an educator, embarking on her teaching career in 1977.
Initially specialising in Foundation Phase, referred to as “kindertuin”, Juffrou Lien skilfully imparted the skills of reading and writing to countless generations of children. Later, she transitioned to Intermediate Phase, dedicating herself to teaching Life Science.
Juffrou Lien was widely recognised as a disciplined and dedicated educator, consistently setting clear expectations for her students.
Her Pellsrus Primary School colleagues will forever remember her as a sincere and forthright teacher, with a warm and compassionate heart.
“As members of the Pellsrus School Community, we express our utmost gratitude to Joyceleen for her invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to our school over the years. We acknowledge her significant impact on the lives of numerous students and the broader community. It is with great admiration that we wish her a thoroughly deserved and fulfilling retirement,” the school said in a statement.
