In a testament to the enduring partnership between Global Leadership Academy (GLA) and Ilsfeld GMS, a delegation comprising two teachers and four enthusiastic learners has embarked on a journey to Ilsfeld, Germany, from October 3 to 11. This educational venture marks another milestone in the relationship between the Kouga Municipality and Ilsfeld Municipality.

This exciting opportunity was made possible through the introduction of a German programme by Anna Hörlein, who generously supports global collaborations between partnered schools. The primary aim of this programme is to nurture global awareness and foster collaboration among young learners.

For GLA learners, this initiative promises a valuable experience of interaction with their German counterparts, an exchange of knowledge and experiences, and a broader perspective on diverse cultures.

It is worth noting that teachers and learners from Ilsfeld GMS had the privilege of visiting GLA in April this year, and now it is GLA’s turn to reciprocate their hospitality in October.

Although the visit is primarily funded by the German government, there is a great appreciation for the local contributions received from Kouga Municipality, Pure Design Architects, and FNB Jeffreys Bay Volunteers.

The core objective of this visit is to provide GLA learners with a unique platform to explore global issues, with a particular focus on topics related to water scarcity and awareness.

A highlight of the itinerary includes the co-hosting of the inaugural Ilsfeld- Great Trolley Race, an event aimed at raising public awareness and garnering support for their joint water-awareness campaign.

This educational exchange not only solidifies the bonds between GLA and Ilsfeld, but also contributes to the development of global citizens with a heightened sense of responsibility toward critical global challenges.
