At least 12 non-profit organisations within the Sarah Baartman District Municipality were the recipients of much-needed funding from the Cacadu Development Agency (CDA), an agency of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality.

The Cacadu Development Agency (CDA), an agency of the Sarah Baartman District Municipality, serves the entire district, inclusive of its seven local municipalities.

As a separate entity from the municipality, CDA is tasked with finding ways of growing and developing the district to ensure economic growth.

As part of CDA’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) it funded 12 non-profit organisations across the district this year.

CSI forms an integral part of the CDA’s commitment to develop communities and to enhance its standing as a responsible corporate and valued partner.

The community development projects which were selected to focus on the fol lowing areas:

  • Environmental, waste, greening and cleansing
  • Heritage, arts, culture, and tourism.
  • Youth development
  • Community development projects
  • Food security (soup kitchens/food gardens)
  • Training/capacity building

The 12 NPOs received support to the total value of R540 335.04 for this financial year.

In the Kouga Municipality and Kou-Kamma Municipality, Sakhe Singamadoda Youth Programmes in Humansdorp received R45 898,

Ethembeni Community Organisation Project in Hankey received R50 000, and On Eagles Wings Multi-Purpose Centre in Joubertina received R50 000.

The official handover of the grants was held on May 23, in Nqweba (Kirkwood), with each recipient receiving recognition for the hard work they are doing to improve the lives of the community in the Sarah Baartman District.
