As part of Fountains Mall’s Heritage Expo, Oasis FM hosted a highly successful Community Potjiekos Competition at Die Werf, Fountains Mall in Jeffreys Bay on September 28 with Team Herotel winning first prize after serving the judges a delicious three-course meal.
As previously reported, following a successful inaugural event in 2022, the Community Potjiekos Competition has continued to prosper with Fountains Mall joining the event as the official sponsor for the first time this year.
With this year’s theme set as Ubuntu to celebrate the diversity of South Africa’s heritage, Bernadette Swartz, co-founder of Oasis FM, said that 10 teams enjoyed a fun-filled day with The Vibe Music Academy students providing entertainment and Limitless Dance Studio showcasing their dance moves.
She said that singers, John Nelson from Humansdorp, and Bianca Ase from Jeffreys Bay, also added a great element to the event.
“The Community Potjiekos Competition was a great success,” said Swartz.
The judges were Nadine Scheepers, marketing manager of Fountains Mall, and Joy Apollis, owner of Cakes of Joy.
Swartz said that the winner of the competition was Team Herotel, who served the judges a three-course meal while the runner-up was Pellsrus Primary School who made a delicious Venison Curry.
She said that in third place was Team Van Louw, who also made a Venison Potjie.
