As part of their annual fundraising efforts, the United Barbarians Rugby Football Club will be hosting their fourth Golf Day on December 7 at Hankey Golf Course, and plan to stick to the two-ball format since it has been a great hit over the last four years.

Shannon Slabbert, secretary of United Barbarians, said that the golf day will be hosted to raise much-needed funding for the club.

Since they have continued to host a successful golf day event over the last four years, he hopes that this year will be no different.

To ensure the event’s success, Slabbert said that they will adhere to the previous year’s two-ball alliance format.

“We are inviting all people to enter this competition because it is fun. Last year, we even had people travel from as far as Gqeberha and Plettenberg Bay to participate,” said Slabbert. “We welcome all people and encourage them to support us.”

The entry fee costs R300 per person, which includes a free water hole and a halfway house.

Slabbert said that participants can also look forward to prizes worth R20 000.

“Last year, everyone at the event walked away with a prize,” said Slabbert.

He further said that they wanted to thank their sponsors who have contributed greatly to making the event special. Slabbert mentioned that some of their sponsors include Patensie Citrus and various other local businesses and farmers.

“We are looking forward to hosting the golf day again this year,” said Slabbert.
