Situated between St Francis Bay and the border of the Tsitsikamma coast, Oyster Bay Lodge is a true nature lover’s paradise in the Eastern Cape. Renowned for its long stretches of sandy beach, you can feast your eyes on the beauty the property has to offer.

The Lodge offers exciting and family-friendly activities on-site, ranging from heart-racing, adrenaline-pumping to soul-soothing, giving guests and day visitors the opportunity to experience the 100-hectare coastal reserve.

Bird-watching

No charge

Birdwatchers and bird lovers will enjoy this recreational activity as more than 100 bird species have been spotted in our natural coastal reserve by our guests, including the African Oystercatcher, African Fish Eagle, Cuckoo, Canary, Kingfisher, Loerie, Owl, Wagtail, and Woodpecker.

Hiking trails

No charge

Yellow Trail: An excellent trail for light walking or an off-trail running circuit. It is 3 km and you are bound to have great interactions with our fauna.

Red Trail: Walking 5 km through a Fynbos-rich area, crossing through a wooded section over a few dunes to the beach. What a scenic way to view our coastal reserve.

Blue Trail: A great trail to experience a little piece of paradise around each corner. It is 6.5 km and a multitude of birds, plants, and animals can be seen.

Green Trail: An 8 km long trail where you will walk across vast stretches of dune, have multiple magnificent views, and several spots for a picnic.

Beach horse ride

Have an unforgettable experience while exploring the coastal reserve from horseback and have a gallop or trot along our 3.5 km private beach next to the waves of the Indian Ocean. This activity is accompanied by one of our experienced guides, and we have various horses suitable for first-timers or children. (Maximum 7 guests)

Deep sea fishing

Half day (4 hours*) from R1 250

The area has a variety of fish species like Yellow Tail, Cape Salmon, and Cob, to name but a few. Fishing gear and bait are provided. Bring your own refreshments – picnic baskets and beverages are available from our restaurant and bar. Self-drive to Port St Francis Harbour. (Minimum 2 persons per boat).

Dune picnic

Your time and place on the reserve or private beachfront. One of our experienced guides on horseback will bring a delicious picnic to you. Please speak to the team regarding the contents of the basket, the differences, or any food allergies. Available every day.

Fat bikes

R350 per person – 3 hours of usage

Explore our picturesque property. The terrain is ever-changing: from grassy stretches, sandy spots, steep descents, or ascents. Remember your map and refreshments – snacks and beverages are available from our restaurant and bar.

Scenic adventure

R550 per person

Experience the beauty of our coastal reserve in our exhilarating Go Green vehicles with a dedicated guide who will educate you about the reserve and the natural surroundings.

The drive will encompass some of the most beautiful scenic areas of the wetlands, and there will be an opportunity for viewing and identifying some of the birdlife in the reserve. A refreshment stop is included in the rate. Available every day. Speak to our guide for optional extras.

Sandboarding

R300 per board – 3 hours of usage

Have you ever pictured yourself standing on the top of a dune and sliding down on a sandboard? We will show you the ropes at the lodge, and you can go at your own pace with the sandboard.
