THE annual USN JBay Touchies, referred to as the “best Touchies Tournament in South Africa,” will see 32 teams from all over the country battle it out on Jeffreys Bay Main Beach for the 2024 Kings of the Beach title on December 26 from 08:00.

Christo Botha, event organiser for USN, said that the tournament, which began in 2018 with USN as the main sponsor, is a set event for Jeffreys Bay.

He said spectators can expect fast and furious touchies with non-stop action on the two fields on the Main Beach.

Botha mentioned that there would be two different leagues: the pro league and the social league for the holiday teams.

The current pro league champions are Kra Blue Wave from Humansdorp.

As in previous years, Botha said that the highlight of the tournament will be the game between the JBay Legends and Kouga Municipality Legends, which will begin at 14:00 and will be live-streamed on the 1Touch Facebook page.

In addition, the Christian Ellis Trophy for the referee of the tournament will also be up for grabs.

“There will also be lots of freebies for everyone on the beach, made possible by all the sponsors involved in the event,” said Botha.

He further mentioned that Metrofibre and Kouga Municipality have joined hands to sponsor eight local teams with fully sublimated clothing for the event.

“The event is a celebration of the Kouga communities and is well supported by the local communities,” said Botha.

“The touchies is a JBay tradition on December 26, and keeping it alive is very important to USN.”

The cost is R150 per team of eight players; however, the tournament is limited to 32 teams.

Entries opened on December 1, and all ages, genders, and sizes are welcome to enter the tournament.

“There are only 32 slots, so enter immediately to avoid disappointment,” said Botha.

The prize-giving and after-party will take place at Je’Vista Social Café in Jeffreys Bay, which is another highlight of the event with lots of prizes and cash up for grabs.

“We would like to give a big thanks to USN, the Kouga Municipality, and the 30 other sponsors for their support towards the success of the event,” said Botha.
