THE Global Leadership Academy’s inter-house ahletics, held on January 30 and 31, was a resounding success, with learners showcasing incredible athletic enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
The event brought together learners from all houses, each striving for glory on the track and field. Special congratulations go to Victrix Ludorum Faith Bruton, who delivered an outstanding performance, shattering a record in the 1 500m and achieving 2860 points on the Athletics Performance Evaluation (APE) table for the day.
Despite Bruton’s outstanding performance, Joanna Handley took first place in the 1 500m, finishing a few seconds ahead of her opponent and achieving a new record for the school.
The Victor Ludorum title goes to Scott Lovemore, who displayed exceptional talent across multiple disciplines, proving himself a formidable competitor both on the track and in field events.

. Joanna Handley – 1 500m
. Giano Fourie – Hurdles
. Enya Kruger – Hurdles
. Christopher Handley – 400m and 800m
. Phillip Nel – Hurdles
Furthermore, at least 88 learners participated in the Kouga Athletics events hosted in Kareedouw on February 8.
This weekend, at least 26 learners will be representing the school at the Sarah Baartman Athletics event in Gqeberha at the Westbourne Oval.
