JEFFREYS BAY – Training hard in weightlifting has paid off for 14-year-old Ruwellyn Bantom of Pellsrus.
Ruwellyn has been training hard in weightlifting and was part of the Eastern Cape Weightlifting (ECWA) side that was crowned the best U/14 men’s team in South Africa, showing dedication, discipline and a heart to make his family and community proud.
Last week his hard work was rewarded. Tony Litchfield from Champions for Christ collected special donations for Ruwellyn and his family – food parcels and essentials to support his household.
“God sees every effort,” said Litchfield as he handed over the donation to the Pellsrus Primary School learner.
“When a young person gives their all, the community must stand with them.”
According to Litchfield, Ruwellyn’s story is proof that when one combines faith, hard work and people who care, lives are changed.
ECWA Interim Chairperson, Pieter Pretorius, says they are proud of Ruwellyn and will continue to support young athletes who represent hope for the future of sport in Kouga and the Eastern Cape.
