The N6 road, connecting East London and Komani near Maclean Town reopened for traffic seven hours after it was temporarily closed due to a cash-in-transit van bombing incident on July 29.

Early on July 29, spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Unathi Binqose said it was alleged that the robbers used explosives to bomb a cash van and access the money on the N6 road.

Shortly after the bombing incident, he said that the road was closed, and that crime scene investigators and explosives experts were combing the scene for any clues that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the crime.

Finally, seven hours later, Binqose said the road was opened again.

“Some seven hours after the heist was executed, the N6 road has finally been reopened to traffic,” said Binqose.
