KOMANI-BORN Zodwa Gqwaka is not just a pretty face, but a goal driven, hardworking businesswoman.

Not only is the mother-of-two a business owner of Delivery Chap and Brand Me Up, but she is also a life coach, a speaker and now the newly elected FaceOfKiaQueenstown.

Gqwaka is actively involved in building the community for the better and sits on the committee of the Border Kei Chamber of Business where they come up with strategies of improving the state of Komani for all who live in it. Express reporter THANDI SETOKOEtalks to Zodwa about her new venture.

How did you become the face of the new Kia?

I was contacted by Paul at Kia straight after my live event, Connecting The Dots. He had been entertaining the thought of introducing a face of Kia. My live event, among other things, was what convinced him that I’m the right face for the job.

What does this opportunity mean to you as a local resident of Komani?

It means a great deal. These kinds of things happen to celebrities in the bigger cities. It is a symbol of hope for anyone who pursues their dreams fearlessly. Work hard, someone is watching.

What is expected of you as the new Kia ambassador?

As the face of the local branch I have to advertise their different cars. I do this through videos; we’ve come up with some pretty cool ideas, Backseat conversation with Zodwa, driven by Kia being one of them.

Which would you say is your favourite Kia vehicle thus far and why?

Definitely the Seltos. It speaks to my lifestyle and it’s a phenomenal family car. The space is amazing. It speaks to me as a young, driven female as well, by its looks and performance.

What kind of a woman would you associate the motor vehicle with? And why?

It fits all kinds of women for different kinds of reasons. There is no one specific type of women because the vehicle is so versatile.

Motor vehicles are often associated with men; and women with cosmetics and mostly kitchen stuff. Would you agree?

Before you mentioned it in this question I was oblivious to it. I saw myself fit perfectly in the automotive space, I must think of myself as a man then. On a serious note though it means we are doing something right as a society when it comes to gender discrimination pertaining to what men can do and women can’t.

What would you say is your secret to success and what is your life motto?

I live authentically. I am me and I exercise my God given gifts, that have allowed me many successes. My life motto is to live a full life with a determination to die empty.
