Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) has warned of unplanned water supply interruptions for the residents in town of Komani due to an over 24-hour power outage.
CHDM municipal manager Gcobani Mashiyi said the outage has affected pumping at the water treatment plant.
On Thursday, November 17 municipal workers were trying to expose the cable to find the fault.
Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) said. “A cable fault was detected next to the entrance of Walter Sisulu University in Queens Drive. The faulty cable is now being exposed while the Municipality is acquiring material. No restoration timeframe at this point.”
Mashiyi said, “Our backup generators are unable to keep up with running for more than 24 hours and this will affect most areas of Komani. Residents are advised to use water sparingly. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this, for more information call 0800 100 100.”
