CHRIS Hani District-based provincial ABC Motsepe League side, Amavarara, parted ways with coach Thomas Tshabalala last week Wednesday, with the club confirming that former club coach, Wisemen Mdunana, who was assisting Tshabalala, would be the interim coach.

Tshabalala, who joined the Ezibeleni-based side at the start of the season in September, replacing Tshepo Motsoeneng, started his tenure with great form as the coach of the club.

The club was leading the pecking order in the province for the first seven fixtures this season.

The team also managed to reach the Nedbank Cup Last 32 competition for the first time in history of the club.

“I do not want to lie; when I got to the team I was very happy and the people of Ezibeleni and the family of the chairperson were welcoming,” Tshabalala said.

“We played well in the first few games of the league and we also managed to book a place in the Nedbank Cup last 32 for the first time.

“But as time went on, the chairperson of the team started interfering in my job, especially in the big games and that did not go down well with me as the head coach,” said Tshabalala.

Komani-Karoo Express’ correspondent contacted the chairperson of the team, Lusapho Mzwakali, to hear his side of the story.

“I was only getting to know the coach and I cannot talk much about him as I only knew him for few months.

“The only thing I can talk about is the bunch of players that I know for the past seven years.

“These players grew together and they know what the dream of this club and its mandate is.

“This team managed to be where it is because of these players,” said Mzwakali.
