TWO Provincial ABC Motsepe League sides based in Komani , Amavarara FC and Seven Stars, played a friendly match against each other this past weekend at the Dumpy Adams Sport Complex in Komani as a final tune-up for this season’s ABC Motsepe League.
Amavarara were the better team on the day using their experience against the new boys in the ABC Motsepe League.
Two goals from experienced campaigners, Anele Twani and Athenkosi Lafota, who recently returned to the club, handed Amavarara their win in the pre-season game beating new boys Seven Stars 2-1 with Shaydon Rowland finding the back of the net for Stars.
The Ezibeleni-based Amavarara will be contesting for the third time in the Provincial Football League while Seven Stars of Aloevale in Komani will be playing for the first time in the history of the club since it was formed in 1998.
While the two teams were busy taking on each other on the field, the chairmen and team managers were in a meeting that was held at the Garden Court Hotel in East London.
The new season was officially launched and the teams were separated into two streams of nine teams in each stream. Amavarara and Seven Stars will be playing in Stream A with last season stream champions Spear Of The Nation FC, and Bizana Pondo Chiefs, who were relegated recently from the GladAfrica Championship last season.
“We are ready to face every challenge that we will be facing in the ABC Motsepe League. We have very talented players in our team who have been playing together for a while now,” said Seven Stars Head Coach, Yongama Kepkey.
It was also confirmed that all ABC Motsepe League teams will take part in the Nedbank Cup playoffs on the 4th September. The Teams are grouped into four groups as per normal procedure; Amavarara and Seven Stars will be playing in group C against Sibiya All Stars and Matta Millan.
