WHITTLESEA – Three kidnapping and armed robbery suspects were arrested by a joint operation, including Komani Crime Intelligence and members attached to Whittlesea SAPS, Gqeberha Tactical Response Team (TRT), Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Komani K9 and Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC) from Gqeberha.

Police spokesperson Captain Namhla Mdleleni said they followed up on information about a case of kidnapping and armed robbery that was reported on 28 September, where a victim was robbed and kidnapped from his shop in Whittlesea.

“On Tuesday, 30 September, information led the members to Gqeberha where the vehicle was spotted by TRT members. The vehicle was found with four occupants and upon searching, police confiscated bags containing new clothes and slips from different banks,” she said.

Mdleleni added that members proceeded to the house where they found an unlicensed firearm and an undisclosed amount of money.

“Three suspects between 19 and 27 years old were arrested and charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.”

All suspects are due to appear at Whittlesea Magistrates’ Court soon.

The District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph commended the quick response in acting on information received and their vigilance in spotting the vehicle. He also commended the community members who shared the valuable information that led to the arrest of the perpetrators.
