THE Village in Graaff-Reinet will be hosting a summer festival on Saturday, February 8, with something to interest each member of the family.
One of the main attractions will be a fashion show, entitled Shweshwe Chic, featuring garments from the New Horizons sewing co-operative, run by the talented Hanna Makoba.
The range of garments in traditional Shweshwe will include those suitable for a variety of occasions, from formal to casual, modelled by local girls and women.
Makoba will be available to discuss special orders, and there will also be some garments available for sale. Entry to the fashion show is R30.
For the little children, there will be a 50m scooter race at 09:00, for two- to three-year-olds and four- to five-year-olds.
Children must bring their own scooters, and there is no charge to enter.
Each participant will get a free balloon and lollipop, and the winners will receive sweet hampers. Entries should preferably be made ahead of time.
Dads and older children will enjoy browsing around the attractions of The Village, including several old vehicles and bikes.
There will also be a selection of vendors in the food court, with some unusual delicacies expected from the local restaurants and caterers.
Fun balloons will also be on sale from Cube, and children will also be able to enjoy the large secure play area.
