THE Somerset East Bowling Club have shown their concern for senior citizens of Somerset East by placing signs at the club.

The motivation for installing one at the Bowling Club was to generate a smile or two in the town.

Bosberg Signs was responsible for making the sign.

According to Dick Bradfield, these particular street signs were first noticed some years ago at a street crossing opposite an old age home in Northern Ireland.

The caricature of an elderly couple was apt and done with sympathy and showing concern for the elderly.

A concerned resident told Mid-Karoo Express that it would actually be worth the while to place more of these signs around town.

This would be especially useful in Nojoli Street, where the drivers of vehicles do not seem to spare a thought for the elderly attempting to cross the street from one side to the other.

The resident said that at month end, the town was a hive of activity and then the street became a danger zone because of the vehicles zipping up and down at speed.
