Retired pastor appears in court for allegedly trying to kill is wife




A 74-year-old retired pastor briefly appeared before the Komani Magistrate’s Court today, March 16 for a bail application hearing after allegedly organising a hit on his wife.

According to Provincial police spokesperson, Warrant officer Majola Nkohli, Mongameli Mgijima and three other men attempted to hang the wife with a rope at their marital home in Mlungisi township.

“The alleged incident happened on Sunday, March 6,” Nkohli said.

He added that the victim was saved by her neighbours after she was left for dead, and police were later called.

“The police traced Mgijima to a house in Mlungisi, where he was nabbed. On Wednesday, March 9 Mgijima appeared briefly at the Komani Magistrate’s Court for a charge of attempted murder,” Nkohli said.

The case has been postponed.
