“This tournament was supposed to have been held in December last year but because of the lockdown we had to postpone it. This is a start of a series of netball tournaments that we have planned for the rest of the year.
“PH Sports has partnered with netball to make sure that the girl child is given all the opportunities available and to also keep them active throughout the year,” said Hlati.
PH Sports is a sports brand that specialises in sports equipment, apparel for the affordable and premium market. They also specialise in organising sports events and tournaments.
The tournament was also graced by the presence of the Eastern Cape Netball Association president, Mpumi Javu.
Javu said netball, and sport in general, helped kids stay active, but it also built their characters and confidence.
“Sport helps you come out of your shell; it helps you to associate with other kids. Sport teaches discipline, from that perspective this has been very successful. With all the challenges that they have had, they still managed to pull off an amazing tournament,” she said.
