The murder case of retired pastor Mongameli Mgijima was postponed by the Komani Magistrate’s Court on Monday, April 25.

The 74-year-old clergy man stands accused of attempting to murder his wife.

The case before the court alleged Mgijima and three other unknown men tried to kill 57-year-old Nomthandazo Mgijima by hanging her on the roof of their matrimonial home on March 6.

But, fortunately for the teacher, the rope she was allegedly hanged with broke.

Mgijima was denied bail and remains in police custody. The matter has been postponed to May 25 for further investigation.

The defense did not oppose the postponement.

Mgijima cut a lone figure on the stand with a wrinkled blue shirt.
