THE Middelburg Ratepayers and Business Forum has now launched a R25 000 project, in the hopes of making a difference.

“It is just a start,” said forum chairperson, Joe Newton.

“And for now we will concentrate on the immediate crisis areas that directly affect tourism. We want Middelburg to be a tourist friendly town, so as to welcome this much needed revenue into our town economy.”

The forum has acquired 400 bags of filler, which will be used to patch roads and intersections as soon as temperature and rainfall conditions allow.

“We have a positive working relationship with the municipality,” said Newton.

“The forum is here to serve the community and assist the municipality. At the end of the day, we all want our town to flourish and prosper.”

Newton also stressed that the forum is a non-political organisation representing the entire community.

“We hope to soon have representatives from KwaNonzame and Midros joining the forum board,” he said.

For more information about the forum, contact Joe Newton on 072 534 2511.
