The Hewu Brotherhood Organisation hosted the Mgijima Soccer and Netball Easter Tournament, featuring a number of local clubs to add Easter cheer to the community of Whittlesea and surrounding areas.
This tournament used to be an annual event, but was not played for the last two years due to the coronavirus restrictions.
Hewu Brotherhood is an integrated community development programme supported by local youth. The NGO is involved with sports, education and agricultural development in the Hewu village communities.
“The NGO is dedicated to enriching and developing the lives of youngsters, between the ages of 13 and 17, from previously disadvantaged areas, through sport and wellness activities,” said Mthetho Kamana, communications manager for Hewu Brotherhood.
“Collaborating with them is part of our corporate social responsibility strategy, and it falls in line with our aim to increase our visibility in communities across the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality and provide empowerment opportunities to those who need it most.”
