Police in Graaff-Reinet are investigating the murder of
41-year-old André Steenkamp in Angora Street, Kroonvale (Graaff-Reinet), after he sustained multiple head injuries after allegedly talking to a 34-year-old suspect on Saturday, 24 April.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson,
it is alleged that on Saturday at about 01:30 Graaff-Reinet Police were
informed that Steenkamp had been found by a resident in Angora Street after
the resident alleged that she heard people talking outside the house.
“The resident alleges that she later found the deceased
lying on the ground where he was bleeding from his head,” said Rawlinson.
He said Graaff-Reinet EMS Personnel were notified and on
their arrival they found Steenkamp had sustained multiple head injuries.
His body was taken to Graaff-Reinet
mortuary.
“The suspect was arrested and will appear at the Graaff
Reinet Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Rawlinson.
