Komani’s Dampy Adams Sports Complex under SAFA Chris Hani Region will
host the deciding Provincial Sasol Women’s League tomorrow, September 3 from 09:00
with eight top provincial positions up for grabs.
The fixtures are to determine the Eastern
Cape Sasol Women’s League Top 8 and the overall winner to represent the Eastern
Cape Province in the national playoffs to take place later this month.
The playoffs will be played according to
the SAFA Uniform Rules of Competitions.
Gqeberha’s Sophakama Ladies FC became the champions of Coastal Stream
after collecting 42 points in 16 games, while Executive Ladies FC from
Ntabankulu won Inland Stream with 32 points without a single loss throughout
the season.
The team that will be victorious tomorrow between the two teams will go
on to play in the Sasol Women’s League National Playoffs hoping to emulate Gqeberha’s
City Lads Ladies who were promoted to the Hollywoodbets
Super League last season.
Finishing second in the Coastal Stream,
University of Fort Hare Ladies FC from Alice will take on Ayakha Stars Ladies
from Mthatha who finished second in Inland Stream for a third and fourth place
in the province.
Another game will include Chris Hani
District side Eluhewini Ladies FC from Engcobo who finished third in Inland
Stream with 27 points after managing nine wins this season.
The Dumisani Gcina-coached side will
take on MADIBAZ Football Ladies also from Gqeberha who finished third with 28
points in the Coastal Stream. The two teams will be playing for fifth and sixth
place in the province.
Coach Gcina is happy with the state of
the team even though the team is playing under difficult conditions.
“We are happy with third place. The team
played well this season and hopefully we will continue with that form in the
playoffs. Most of our players are doing matric this year and that makes it
difficult to prepare the team every week, but that will not stop the girls from
working even harder,” said Gcina.
