The Eastern Cape Department of Transport announced on July 29 that the N6 road, connecting East London and Komani near Maclean Town, had been temporarily closed due to a cash-in-transit van bombing incident.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Unathi Binqose said on July 29, it was alleged that the robbers used explosives to bomb a cash van and access the money.

He further said that the road had been closed and was an active crime scene.

“Law enforcement is on the scene along with other rapid response teams to attend to the scene,” said Binqose.
