DURING Unified Taekwondo South Africa’s prize-giving in PE on December 16, Mystic Wolves Taekwondo from Cradock ended up adding a few new accolades to their trophy case.

They were named best performing club of 2018 and most improved club of 2018.

Then instructor Brendon Fletcher received the overall top student of the year and best instructor of the year awards to top it all off.

“It shows you what a small town can achieve on a national scale.

“Our students train hard and we are very impressed with each and every one of them,” Fletcher said.

The club has a busy schedule for the year ahead, training for and competing in regionals, interclubs and nationals.

Fletcher will be especially busy as he has been selected for the South African team to compete in the World Championships in Aguaza Falls, Brazil, in August.

The cost of the trip, including his travel expenses and entry fee, amounts to almost R40 000.

The students will be hosting a number of fundraising events throughout the year which also enables them to travel.
