JAZZ maestro, Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse, will take to the stage at the Komani Town Hall on Saturday, November 30.
Mabuse, best remembered for his chart-topping hit, Burn Out, will perform some of his popular hits like Shikisha and Jive Soweto.
Renowned local jazz artist, Mlungisi Gegana, who arranged for Mabuse to perform in Komani, said not only will Mabuse entertain audience members, but he will also offer free lessons to aspiring musicians from Mlungisi Academy.
Funds raised at the show will be used to buy music equipment for the academy.
“We are currently using borrowed equipment like pianos and drum sets from local artists,” said Gegana.
“I have brought some of my equipment to the academy, but most of the instruments here do not belong to us. I have knocked on many doors to get financial assistance, but to no avail.
“I have decided to find ways to keep things going, because I want to see these kids grow in the industry and give back to those who will come after them, as I have.”
Students from Mlungisi Academy will share the stage with Gegana and Mabuse.
The doors will open at 19:30.
Tickets cost R200 per person and are available at Computicket, USave Whittlesea, Alice, Catchcart, Cala, Komani and Stutterheim), OK Furniture (Komani and Stutterheim) and Shoprite (Komani and Stutterheim).
