DURING the 2018 Grootfontein College Sports Awards evening that took place on November 14, students at the college were rewarded for their sporting achievements during the year.

The guest speaker at the evening was Springbok Sevens Rugby player, Lorinda Brown, who also handed out the trophies to the various award winners.

The principal of the college, Themba Cebani, welcomed everyone, after which the new SRC president, Adriaan Stander spread some words of encouragement.

Grootfontein rugby coach Alfred Tomana gave a few words in recognition of a former rugby player who passed away, after which he and captain Joppie du Pisani handed over the framed rugby jersey to the mother of Loyiso Swartbooi.

Niel Schoeman presented the sporting code managers of the different sports at the college, who then announced the top achievers in archery, golf, netball, paintball, golf development, rugby, squash and soccer.

GADI director, Tino Herselman, congratulated the choir on their exceptional achievements during the SA College’s Choir Competition.
