Cradock-based powerlifter, Xolani Ndatya could hardly control his emotions when he recently received the news of a sponsorship deal from one of the local fuel companies in Cradock, Adami’s Caltex Fuel.

Ndatya has been competing for five years as a disabled powerlifter in the Eastern Cape and at the Disabled South African Championships.

He recently added another gold medal to his collection after lifting 100kg and clinching the 2023 Toyota National Championships at the Belhar Sport Centre in Cape Town in April.

Adami’s Caltex Fuel decided to pay for 12 months of his gym membership fees so that he can prepare for his upcoming events and work on his dream to participate in the Paralympics Games.

“Most people know my history and the struggles I have gone through to get to where I am now, and they will understand and forgive me for being this emotional. I have struggled for many years as a disabled sports person but watch me now. I just want to thank Adami for this, especially for the one year gym subscription,” said Ndatya.

Adami’s Fuel also sponsored Ndatya with printed gym clothing.

Chris Adami of Adami’s Caltex Fuel said they have been helping Ndatya for years.

“It is not the first time we help him on this journey. We usually help him with transport money so that he can travel to the different provinces. We are always happy to help him out because he represents this town. After returning home with a gold medal, we thought this would also motivate him more,” said Adami.
