Komani
police are investigating a case of double murder after two bodies were
discovered dumped about 16km outside town towards Roydon Game Reserve in what
is an expected act of vigilantism.
The
two deceased are suspected to have burgled a hardware store in Komani Street.
Police
spokesperson captain Namhla Mdleleni said the alleged burglary happened between
Saturday night, August 13 and early Sunday, August 14.
“Police
found two bodies of unknown men dumped near Roydon Farm. Preliminary investigations revealed that the
two men were killed after they were accused of breaking into a hardware store
in Komani Street.
“Police
investigations led to shallow graves, where the bodies were found,” she
said.
Mdleleni
said police were condemning any acts of vigilantism and urging community
members to denounce such acts of violence and exercise restraint.
“The
graves were pointed out by four suspects. The four suspects were arrested and
detained for murder. The suspects, aged between 27 and 35, will appear before
the Komani Magistrate’s Court
soon,” said Mdleleni.
She said
criminal elements must be reported to police and suspects nabbed by community
members must be taken to the police.
