Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Paul Mahlasela is facing a corruption investigation by his former employer, Alfred Nzo municipality.
EMLM spokesperson, Lonwabo Kowa, in a statement said Mahlasela was employed as a supply chain management manager when the allegations that warranted an investigation occurred.
“The matter has not yet been considered by EMLM council. It needs to be pointed ou,t however, that the news currently circulating on various social media platforms linking the corruption allegations against the CFO to the Lesseyton Sports Facility is fake and devoid of any substance,” said Kowa.
He said Mahlasela joined the local authority in March last year, after procurement processes had been completed.
“The municipality will advise as soon as further internal developments emerge,” he said.
