THE Chris Hani District Municipality, together with the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture and Chris Hani Sports Council, held district trials in different venues on Saturday morning.

The purpose was to select a team to represent the district in this year’s Steve Vukile Tshwete Games, which will be held in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro in late November.

Tobi Kula Indoor Sports Centre hosted boxing, table tennis and rugby trials, while soccer trials for both boys and girls were held at the Dumpy Adams Sport Complex.

Man’s Pub and Braai netball courts hosted the netball trials on the same day.

The Chris Hani District is facing a challenge with the volleyball team, as the games’ rules state that each player should be in possession of an ID document, which none of the players had.

Chris Hani Sports Council deputy chairperson, Sandile Mata, said the trials went smoothly.

“We had a successful day, All teams abided by the rules, besides the ID’s issue, but I believe we learnt from that.

We have a strong team that will represent the in the district in SVT Games.”
