Following the recent Klipplaat unrest, described by the Dr Beyers Naude Municipality (DBNLM) leadership as a disaster, the DBNLM council recommended that a disaster management plan, with sustainable addressing measures for disasters, must be implemented.
The chairperson of the executive committee, Ewald Loock, asked the directorate community service for feedback on the Klipplaat disaster. The director of the said directorate, GW Hermanus, explained that the Sarah District Municipality (SBDM) is the champion of disasters in the district, which include the DBNLM.
“A comprehensive report on the Klipplaat disaster will be compiled and submitted to the accounting officer and executive committee of the DBNLM.
Hermanus strongly raised that a session was needed to strategise on matters pertaining disasters in the DBNLM areas.
