Cradock: Suspect arrested after drugs found hidden in yogurt containers

Drugs worth R12 400 and cash was found in the suspect’s possession.

An intelligence driven operation with assistance from Cradock K9 and highway patrol members yielded positive results on April 2, when a man was found with illicit drugs which he had hidden in several yogurt containers. 

According to police spokesperson, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, on April 2, members from Crime Intelligence Unit intercepted on information of illicit drugs in transit, which was quickly relayed to Cradock K9 and highway patrol teams. 

She further said the members spotted a man fitting a description of the suspect busy hitchhiking on the N10 near Cradock. 

“A suspicious man was accosted and a request for a routine search was done,” said Mdleleni. 

“It is alleged that the illicit drugs were found stashed or dipped in several yoghurt containers and concealed with foil.” 

She said drugs valued around R12 400 were seized and cash was also found in the suspects possession. 

Mdleleni said the suspect was arrested and will appear before the Cradock Magistrate’s Court on April 3, on charges of dealing in drugs.
