After serving in the South African Police Services for more than 35 years, the Graaff-Reinet police station bade farewell to newly retired, Captain Bradley Rawlinson, who served as the communications and liaison officer at the local police station.

In 1986, Rawlinson began his career as a constable at riot unit 13 in East London, after successfully completing his training at the South African Police College in Pretoria.

In 1998, Rawlinson was transferred to SAPS Kabega Park in Gqeberha, where he was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2003. In 2007 he was promoted to warrant officer, relief commander at Fort Beaufort Police Service, where he was later transferred to community policing.

During his time at SAPS Fort Beaufort, additional duties as second-hand goods officer, liquor inspector, rural safety officer and communications were added to his job description.

“While I was in Fort Beaufort, I ran with the ‘Sports against Crime’ initiative and excelled at coaching primary and high school rugby. I truly believe in a healthy body and mind,” said Rawlinson.

At the end of December 2018, he was promoted to captain, communications and liaison in Graaff-Reinet.
