“I WOULD definitely like to do it again,” said Suné Budler after the sparkling success of her ‘Create and Sip’ art event in Tarkastad last week Friday.
Thirty artists (some experienced, others complete beginners) gathered at The Story restaurant for an evening of creative fun with wine and food. Several had come from as far as Cradock.
All materials were provided and the challenge was to paint from the same photograph of a colourful fishing boat. Invited artist, Eric Eatwell, from Molteno, provided guidance and did a demo painting of the boat. The other paintings he had brought along were much admired.
Welcoming the participants, Budler said, “I love arty things and I love events.”
She thanked her husband Michael for making the 30 wooden easels. He and Suné have been married for seven months – they met as engineering students in Stellenbosch where they often attended similar social art events.
This is the most recent in a new spate of arts activity in the Karoo Midlands.
Next in the diary are a couple of two-hour workshops during the Karoo Food Festival (April 26-28).
Elize van Aardt is offering a ceramics class at her studio on Mulberry Grove farm and Annari Oosthuyzen will hold a painting class at Victoria Manor.
