TEAMS from far and wide once again attended the Schoombee Classic Bowls tournament over the long weekend, with a team from Middelburg claiming first prize.

The teams attending came from as far afield as Bergville in Kwazulu-Natal, George, East London and all the surrounding towns. A total of 56 players attended the classic.

What makes this classic such a wonderful experience, is that the Schoombee Bowls Club is currently only four members strong.

Between them they organised a brilliant bowling weekend, good and wholesome meals and, for many, a friendship bond was once again strengthened.

The main sponsor was Personal Trust and no team went home without a prize. Wine, meat, biltong and steaks were handed out to all who took part.

The winning team was skipped by Denwill Collet and his team consisted of Johan van Onselen, Charlotte Kohl and Nicky Thompson. They are from Middelburg and Van Onselen is a member of Schoombee Club.

In second place was the Personal Trust team, and the team from Bergville came third.
