Eastern Cape police have offered thousands of Rand in
rewards to anyone who can supply information that can lead to the arrest and
successful prosecution of those involved in the mass murders of elderly people
in Ezingqolweni locality in Cacadu, formerly Lady Frere.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu
confirmed a notice that was released stating that the murders of the 11 elderly
people occurred between December 2020 and July 2021.

“Three men and eight women
– all elderly people mostly staying alone and some with their young
grandchildren (have been killed),” police said.

Komani-Karoo Express previously reported that
former police provincial commissioner, Lieutenant Colonel Liziwe Ntshinga had
instituted a 72-hour activation plan in one of the murders. In what could be
seen as revenge killing, six men, aged between 21 and 27-years old, were killed. 

“South African Police Service in the Eastern Cape is offering a reward of R100 000 to anyone who can supply information that
will lead to the arrest(s) and successful prosecution of a person or persons
involved in the killing of 22 elderly people at Ndonga A/A, Zingqolweni
locality in Lady Frere between December 2020 and July 2021,” the police said.

Confidentiality of the identity of those who gave information to the police was
guaranteed, the statement said.
