THE village of Nieu Bethesda nestles below the magnificent Compassberg, about 50km from Graaff-Reinet.
Here, with few amenities and no veterinarian, locals inevitably have to jump in and, under the Camdeboo Sterilisation Initiative (CSI), volunteers help with sterilisation, fieldwork training and veterinary care programmes for the animals of Nieu Bethesda and surrounds.
The village may be small, but boasts an artist community with massive heart and, despite difficult times, many Nieu Bethesda artists, and those from further afield with a love for the village, have donated artworks that will go on auction.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the exhibition go towards this project.
“These donations from the artists highlight the deep love they have for the animals in Nieu Bethesda and we cannot thank them enough,” said Victoria Nance, one of the organisers.
Art From The Heart, an art exhibition and auction in aid of the Camdeboo Sterilisation Initiative (CSI) special projects, will be taking place from today, Thursday, December 16, to Sunday, December 19, at the Sports Club, Nieu Bethesda.
There are over 30 artists represented and over 60 artworks featured in the exhibition with some of the local artists included.
Selected artworks going on auction are on Instagram and at the event on December 16.
How to bid
Bidding opened on Instagram on Monday, December 13, and will close today (December 16) at 17:00. If you are in Nieu Bethesda, you can join the live auction on Thursday, December 16, from 18:00.
