EZIBELENI-based side Amavarara FC will play their last 32 Nedbank Cup game at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, East London in February.
The home side will host another ABC Motsepe League side from the Free State province, Super Eagles FC, in the first round of the Nedbank Cup.
The Bethlehem-based side are second in the Free State ABC Motsepe log standings, with 37 points, after 15 games.
They have only lost once this season, winning 11 and drawing four times. They are trailing log leaders, Mangaung United, by two points.
Amavarara, who are currently sixth on the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League log standings with 24 points, have won R20 000 for being last season’s provincial champions and are also guaranteed R100 000 for participating in the Nedbank Cup last 32.
The club’s chairperson, Lusapho Mzwakali, explained why they had to take this game away from the Chris Hani District.
“We had no choice but to take our game to Sisa Dukashe Stadium in East London.
“The PSL requirements must be met and, in our region, we could not meet those requirements. Amavarara are from Chris Hani District and we wanted to play there but unfortunately we could not,” said Mzwakali
He also told Komani-Karoo Express that the team had already submitted a letter to the district asking them to transport the supporters to Mdantsane to support the team.
“It would be good if we could get a bus taking supporters from each of the six local municipalities to support Amavarara in Mdantsane,” concluded Mzwakali.
The Premier Soccer League will announce the exact dates of the matches during the course of the week.
