J.A. NCACA JPS in Lingelihle, Cradock, again proved that they take education very seriously and want to make sure that the learners that attend their school are taught by educators who are diligent and well trained.

After their principal, Alfie Blume, was nominated for a National Teachers’ Award last year, coming second in the category “Excellence in Primary School Leadership” in the Eastern Cape, one of his Grade R practitioners was again nominated this year.

Nomonde Hani was nominated in the category “Excellence in Grade R Teaching”.

In the elimination round, Hani was the winner in her category in the cluster. She then went through to the finals for the province, which were held in East London.

On Thursday, October 25 the winners were announced at a gala function at the Osner Hotel in East London.

The staff, school governing body, learners and parents are proud of Hani’s achievement and awards.

What makes this award so special is the fact that it is the second NTA award in two consecutive years for an educator at J.A. Ncaca JPS.

“To the best of our knowledge, this is a first for a school in our district and possibly in the Eastern Cape. It also proves that the educators at this school not only work hard, but they also work smart and they do care for the learners,” Blume said.

  • Last weekend J.A. Ncaca entered two U/9 teams (boys and girls) for the KFC Mini-Cricket Tournament. For the first time a girls’ team also competed.

Three matches were played by both teams and despite the heat, the players really enjoyed the tournament. It was a great experience for them and it was good to see how the little ones from different schools played together.

“A good sporting spirit among all players and coaches was the highlight of the whole tournament,” Blume concluded.
