THIS Saturday, June 22, will see the biggest Graaff-Reinet community market yet. More than 40 stall holders will brave the Karoo cold at Angel Park this week, with visitors in for a real treat.
Newcomers to the market, Reinette and Natasja of Karoo Crafters, will be showing off their crocheted African animals and cosy blankets.
Rachel Hobson will be returning to Graaff-Reinet for the weekend with her natural homemade skin and beauty product range, Rachel’s Garden – ideal for winter skins. Lorana Rubidge will do demonstrations on how to use the Petit Rouge chalk paint range to colour in your winter decor, while Nicola Beldon of Country Mouse Design will stock Graaff-Reinet souvenirs, such as bumper stickers and licence disk holders.
“We are excited to announce that the latest edition of the Graaff-Reinet booklet ‘A guide to Graaff-Reinet’ will be available, as well as the last of the very popular Graaff-Reinet photographic calendars,” said Beldon.
Saturday’s Midwinter Market comes on the back of what ought to be the longest night of the year in the southern hemisphere on Friday, June 21, followed by the shortest day of the year on Saturday, June 22.
Children can join in on fun activities and work up an appetite while parents browse the market of over 20 food stalls, with Burger Inn as a crowd favourite alongside the popular Karoo Sushi.
The market at Angel Park starts at 10:00 and will be open until 14:00. Stall holders who wish to book for future markets can contact Bea (food) at 078 760 4858, Nicola (arts and crafts) at 083 415 6514 or Moses (entertainment) at 071 094 4158.
